Die Rote Pest

Die Rote Pest

$1600 CAD
From the first glance, the ambiguity engenders fear and confusion because this evil-looking clown holds a sickle in his hand (a part of the symbol of communism). The pictorial space requires exploration and interaction. The characters, sad figures half-human, half-sheep are trying to forget the cause of suffering: the red plague, the communism. The artist can reduce Communism to one word: Grey! “If I had to summarize that time in one word, then I would say that everything was grey. But the greyest thing was that we did not realize it was so grey”.
The artist wants to highlight in this painting, in a complex and personal way, the resignation, the post-communist poverty during the presidency of Iliescu: the communist clown who destroyed the identity of a nation.
